The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has been dethroned by the Kano State Government.
The removal of Sanusi was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, at the State Executive Council meeting on Monday.
According to him, a new emir would soon be appointed.
There was crisis in the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday over alleged attempt to dethrone the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
During the fight, security men were seen struggling to rescue the mace.
It was learnt that the fight broke out during a debate on the report of the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
It must be noted that Mr. Sanusi since his installment as the Emir of Kano has championed the cause of humanity with advocating for the girl child, gender equality, poverty alleviation and even the rights of the Almajiri child.
According to Mr. Aliu, a resident of Kano state, “this is a slight against humanity and would affect all of the Northern States, he has been the only voice standing out to see that all of these societal ills be brought to light”.
” Does this mean that all his efforts to reform Northern Nigeria will be put to waste, who would continue what he has started, by this they have cut down the voice of the millions that he speaks for?”.
